Our Subject: Pointing the finger, which should come as no surprise
“Everyone needs dick. See, I can buy fags. Bunch of guys that need dick – just plain need it? That I get.” -Banky Edwards (Chasing Amy)
Donnie McClurkin loves dick. He lusts for it. He fantasizes about it. He’s obsessed with it. Undoubtedly, if he had his druthers, he’d have his mouth wrapped around one as I type this. Yes, indeed. Donnie is infatuated with men, and he hates himself because of it.
Video has been circulating of Donnie giving a sermon at the recent Church of God in Christ convocation in Memphis, in which he attacks young gay people and speaks, in an admittedly familiar way, about the “perversion” of homosexuality. According to McClurkin, “God did not call young people to such perversion. Society has failed him, his church has failed him … I would be homosexual to this day if Jesus hadn’t delivered (me).”
He goes on: “I see feminine men, feminine boys, everywhere I go … No, don’t applaud ‘cuz it ain’t funny. It’s because we failed. I see them everywhere.”
Get it? Much like those pesky ghosts that haunted Haley Joel Osment’s character in The Sixth Sense, they’re everywhere. Actually, this analogy works pretty well. Let’s just make a slight adjustment..
Donnie McClurkin: I see gay people.
Malcolm Crowe: In your dreams?
[Donnie shakes his head no]
Malcolm Crowe: While you’re awake?
[Donnie nods]
Malcolm Crowe: Gay people like, in bars? In bathhouses?
Donnie McClurkin: Walking around like regular people. They don’t see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don’t know they’re gay.
Malcolm Crowe: How often do you see them?
Donnie McClurkin: All the time. They’re everywhere.
As a “former” gay man who has been delivered by Jesus from homosexuality, McClurkin has made no bones about his disdain of gays and of the “gay lifestyle” in the past. He recently took singer/performer/preacher Tonex to task after Tonex admitted that he, himself is gay. Donnie encourages Tonex to turn away from this “affliction” and “pray away the gay.”
I have a HUGE problem with this. First, if McClurkin, who is obviously still gay and still attracted to men (during this same Memphis speech, he likened his same-sex urges to those of a diabetic, “I don’t eat sugar, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t want sugar”) wants to remain celebate (and I highly doubt this, given the lurid rumors of his dabbling in sex with men) so be it. But it’s shameful of him to use his bully pulpit to hatefully condemn unapologetic, uncloseted gays.
Second, I’d like it very much if the anti-gay religious community could come to grips with the fact that a) no amount of prayer or heterosexual programming can change a gay man into a ravenous vagina-pounder and b) gay isn’t wrong. This last point needs it’s own post (or, more likely, a series of posts) so I’ll just leave it at that (for now).
Third, I can think of little worse than a cowardly hypocrite using a 30-year-old tragedy (his alleged molestation as a child) to make excuses for his own perceived failings. Make no mistake about it. Donnie McClurkin isn’t gay because of a traumatic childhood event. He’s gay because he’s insatiably attracted to men. The former has NOTHING to do with the latter.
I want to make it clear that I certainly don’t intend to make light of Donnie McClurkin’s past. Molestation is a horrible, inexcusable crime, and no one deserves to be made a victim. But it is disingenuous of him to keep pointing to that as the cause for his gayness. Further, I find it unsettling that he can so easily use his own tragedy as a launching pad from which to persecute others. Donnie ain’t right, and he knows it. His problem is, he thinks he’s not right because he’s gay, not because he’s a self-hating charlatan.

It’s irrelevant if I once upon a time knew Donnie. Fact: I know too many pulpit pastors with same sex secrets(SSS) . And yes, I’ve dated a few pastors, slept with a few and been in a few long-term monogamous relationships too. I was once a sang’n choir boy turned professional who traveled continents.
Donnie, Rev. DL Foster and others who are professed ex-gays are fooling no one! Black church folks know God doesn’t really change sexual orientation. I know first hand these pastors will hoodwink you and your mama as long as the invites and checks keeps coming.
I told a gay COGIC pastor to simply give it up, if he’s so unhappy. He said, “I can’t – that’s all I know.” I eventually relinquished the relationship because he knew all about church but very little about himself. Today, he remains behind the pulpit – tormented. That’s why Donnie’s message was useless; it caused more harm by pushing gay, lesbian, bi and questioning congregants and officials deeper undercover (DL). They, hide behind the pulpit, first lady, and the word -not hoping God make them new again, but PRAYING not to get caught.
Saints, I know what I’m talking about!!! This ain’t speculation, or pontification – it’s conclusive, creditable, and confirmed. After I began the road of self actualization, I kept singing and taking your money but eventually let it all go. I stopped fooling you and me.
Because I’m self-actualized: have realistic perceptions of myself, others and the world around me ( that same something Bishop Carlton Pearson discovered). I let it ALL go! I’m a Humanist! Yes, I miss all the stage, show, fun and parties, but I’ll gladly hand it over for my total self awareness.
I wish more gay church folk would take the first step toward self-actualization: run NOW from churches that spew anti-gay rhetoric. That’s when life really begins.

On the “Donnie McClurkin Controversy”
(This is in support of Donnie’s Testimony not in opposition to it)
First let me begin by stating that Donnie (McClurkin) no longer has any more “Little problems” all his little problems have been buried under the “Blood” of Jesus through repenting and giving them to Him. Have yours?
You know, the Gospel in its TRUE form is not now nor ever has been a “Popular” road to take! Why the very Founder of the Gospel was murdered and martyred because of speaking God’s TRUTH, the kind this world doesn’t like. Not because he DID anything wrong, because the only thing he could truly be found guilty of was doing good and speaking the Truth as the WORD OF GOD has it “written”. In fact, all history records the TRUE Gospel as being a point of controversy for the “World”. But as never before, that same controversial spirit of objection to truth has entered into the boundaries of the Church. The Apostate church, that is. However, it’s not in the halls of the TRUE Church. For in the TRUE Church the truth must be told at any cost! Just as it cost all the old patriarchs and the Apostles their lives, some today may have such a price to pay in this life but will inherit the greater life to come, eternal life. It is not without a price! So, soldiers, if you can’t take being accused and talked about, put down and scandalized, you may as well get out of the army. For in this army, you are going to fight with all that is within you, and when you run out of that, you’ll have to reach for the “Source” of your strength and your calling.
If we who are called to preach the Gospel can not preach the Whole Gospel then we leave out those who will be lost in those things we could not preach because we either refused to preach it or were forbidden to preach it. We are not focused on one sin when we preach, we are focused on one sin at at time, one sermon at a time, one preacher at a time. But rest assured we’ll cover it all in due season. Why? Because God will not leave this world without excuse. If He came and died for you to give you a chance to inherit eternal life, He’s certainly within His rights to send those who are ambassadors for Him to shed light on things which will keep you from it. On the topic of preachers who must preach the truth, read Roman 1:18-21. On the topic of Homosexcality, read Romans 1:24-28, Genesis 18:20,21; Genesis 19:1-13.
If you can read through these scriptures and STILL criminalize the cry of truth concerning this particular sin (yes, although it’s not the only sin there is) then you have cause for concern regarding your own reprobate condition.
IN REPLY YOUR PHRASE AND I QUOTE:
“I wish more gay church folk would take the first step toward self-actualization: run NOW from churches that spew anti-gay rhetoric. That’s when life really begins.”
Let me say to you, if you do this you will not be running to where life “really begins” but rather where it “Really Ends” and ends forever and ever and ever.

If these people are still tormented, they can be DELIVERED! You better get delivered at any cost because if you don’t it’s gonna cost you more than your popularity, it’s gonna cost you YOUR eternity.
Let me submit to you you MUST be born again (St. John 3:17) of the water and of the SPIRIT. If you haven’t truly been BORN AGAIN, you are going to be continually tormented by spirits trying to draw you back into their fold. But when we are born again the scripture says, “For the law of the SPIRIT of life in Christ Jesus HATH MADE ME FREE from the LAW of sin and death.” Roman 8:2
You can’t just “Hand it over” and “Trade it In” when you still have desires to do what is still in you, you haven’t actually “Repented”. Repentance is Godly Sorrow because you have offended God Himself. It is a desire to turn from what offends Him and walk in fellowship with Him and newness of life!
The Bible says, If ANY man [no matter WHO he is] be IN Christ, he is a NEW Creature: old things are passed away and, behold, ALL THINGS are become NEW. (2 Corinthians 5:17).
My friend I submit that there is only ONE thing left for you to do if you still have these “desires” in your soul and you haven’t truly repented, that is to say had that heart-felt deep sorrow for your sin, then you lack true repentance and a walk with the Living God. The Word of God further says, “The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17. It says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and SAVETH such as be of a contrite SPIRIT” (Psalm 34:18. )
They that worship God must worship Him in Spirit (His Spirit) and in truth. (St. John 4:24)
Jesus declared to His Disciples this: “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21. Sometimes you got to consecrate your life in fasting and prayer.

Just a small addendum to the following phrase above:
You can’t just “Hand it over” and “Trade it In” when you still have desires to do what is still in you, you haven’t actually “Repented”. In fact, you still have the same old nature writhing around in you tormenting you. Repentance is Godly Sorrow because you have offended God Himself. It is a desire to turn from what offends Him and walk in fellowship with Him and newness of life!
Repent my friend and be BORN AGAIN!

Wow….B’s post is deep. I wish that more people would just embrace who they are, and try to be the best person that they can be. Period. Self-actualization is a wonderful thing.

I am one of the few christians who believes that we should lay off gay people. I don’t talk about it in christian circles because many unempathetic and uncompassionate christians believe that they are just headed to hell in a hand basket with gasolione drawers. Recently, i had a student come out to me after a class. I felt honored, privilaged that she felt comfortable enough to tell me her troubles. I advised her to be careful about who else she comes out to, lest she get the “You know, the Bible says…..” And while the bible does say that God dealt with homosexuality himself (Romans 1:21-26), it does not say that they are going to hell. What about the ones that are honest with themselves? What about the ones that don’t sleep with people, just like heterosexual people, that they are not married to? Does God honor that? I don’t know, but until i find out, you will NEVER catch me telling a homosexual that they can be “changed”. There are just somethings that should be left up to deaths door. That’s between them and God.
You will however never catch me marrying a “former” gay man. Just like i couldn’t marry a man who was a “former” whore. Too much temptation, and i would rather keep my instances or chances of possible infidelity low.

I hope this perversion from the pit hell, would go away but that take PRAYER, people would rather gossip and point fingers.

Only animals focus on their genitalia all day. Some humans’ brains are stuck on animal. The first two lines of this post should make you aware that this animal is incapable of rationale thought. Let him/her burn in hell. STAY AWAY FROM CHILDREN!

This is exactly the way I feel about McClurkin too! Thanks for putting words to my thoughts for me. Donny SHOULD stay away from children.

Living in the south, I hear this kind of nonsense all the time. 20 years from now people will look back on repressed people like Donny McClurkin and others who share his hateful sentiments, and wonder what the hell was wrong with us. Kinda like how we look back at past examples of hatred like the KKK and wondered what was wrong with them. In this blog I wrote (http://neocapitalist.wordpress.com/2009/12/18/when-is-blogging-our-discontent-not-enough/) , i questioned how to respond to things like this…what we could do to exercise real support of our homosexual brothers and sisters. I’m embarassed that this is still a conversation taking place today.
Posted by Evangelist Cathy Guyton on January 23, 2010 at 1:26 am
See, the difference in people changing 20 years from now about the KKK or any other offensive group because of actual hate for people because of the “color of their skin” , which God himself made them to be, and people who have had to make or convince themselves to become something that God DIDN’T make them is this: GOD is offended by it. Therefore, if people change 20 years from now and begin to accept a state of man which is still offensive to God, it doesn’t matter because God will never accept it and believe me, GOD can do something about it! What God would rather do is save men and women from the conditions which are offensive to Him and bring them to repentance to reconciliation to himself. This is why Jesus truly came. This sin is no harder for GOD to deliver you from than any other sin is for Him. (Jeremiah 32:27) The Word of God says, “Howbeit this KIND goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. (Mat 17:21 ). There are some conditions which are not pleasing to God and that are harder to overcome because you have allowed these spirits to attach and embed themselves to your soul and become a part of you. They have blinded, deceived and now control you. Therefore, it will take fasting AND prayer to shed light upon them and expose them and deliver you from them.
The First thing one needs to do is actually give your HEART to God and allow Jesus Christ into your heart to change it. Secondly, The reason a lot of preachers may be struggling with these demonic attacks and attachments are because they are not fasting and praying and following the Prescribed method of deliverance themselves and they never have. These kind will NOT GO OUT easily. They are stubborn and spiteful deceivers. They hide deep and dark. They are stealthy and strong. But Jesus is stronger than they are. This is what he says about the strong man:
“Mar 3:26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27 No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. ”
If we follow his prescriptions as a doctor who prescribes the right medicine for the right condition, we will be healed. This is why he gave us a prescription for deliverance. He will come in himself and throw him out and you’ll be set free. Your eyes will be open to the deceiver and you will thank God for shining his light in the darkness that you might see and be set free.
No my friends, God is not going to repent in 20 years either and change his view on this sin, if he did He would have to repent to Sodom and Gomorrah whom he burned alive and destroyed for this very sin, for sin is sin and it ever will be.
For I am the LORD, I change not…Malachi 3:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever – Hebrews 13:8
Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.
Genesis 19:24 Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
Genesis 19:25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
2Peter 2:6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample (example) unto those that after should live ungodly;
2Peter 2:7 And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
2Peter 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
2Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
